In a year where you weren’t sure what tomorrow looked like, much less the holiday season, how are you celebrating and what are you most thankful for?
Thanksgiving may look a little different for you this year. You may not be having large family gatherings or have the means to shop for food or table settings and decorations like in years past. For that reason I put together a super simple neutral Thanksgiving tablescape with items that you likely already have on hand!
The year 2020 has brought a lot of unprecedented challenges and heartache for most of us. I have seen suffering and loss in my community and across the country like I’m sure none of us have ever seen before. In the winter and spring of 2020 I was still fresh out of nurse practitioner school and found myself on the front lines of the Covid-19 pandemic. It was (and still is) so scary navigating this healthcare crisis!
The negativity that came with the year 2020 actually fostered a genuine feeling of thankfulness within me. Suffering and loss has a way of forcing us to evaluate our reality, doesn’t it? I am truly able to see and appreciate my blessings clearer now than ever before. Amongst the many things I am thankful for is my home and the beginning of Happy as a Homebody.
I began brainstorming Happy as a Homebody over the summer of 2020 and it took flight in September. The pandemic actually gave me that extra nudge to launch Happy as a Homebody and put myself out there with a blog. I have always had a deep appreciation for home but given the current circumstances, home has probably taken on a different meaning for all of us as a retreat and a safe haven. Home is where my heart is and I hope this blog is helping you to see your homes in a new, inspiring light!
As the Covid-19 pandemic surges on, words seem inadequate to describe how thankful I am to see this holiday season upon us. I have always loved the holidays but this year, in spite of many traditions being derailed by Covid-19, I am especially thankful for the hope that the holiday season brings!
It is my sincere prayer for anyone reading this post that you and your family will be able to be together, whole, happy and healthy for this upcoming holiday season! I am realizing more with every passing day that the greatest gifts we have been given on this side of heaven are relationships with our friends and family, the people we are privileged to do this life with. Happy Thanksgiving, Y’all!
